My barrel is a 7.5 twist and may actually be a little slower, Im never measured it. When this barrel goes out, I have an 8 twist Im going to try. I say get a box of 115gr Bergers and try and see if the will stabilize. Im thinking they verywell may. As Ive heard other people using a straight 8.

may work there BlackHawk, I shoot a 1 in 9 twist Remington at the moment with Bergers 95 gr VLD's and they work with that, though they are just on the edge. But' they do work so I say go for it.

Tom,

+ 1 0n trying a box before you bow to the rumor mill.

I have shot over 7 boxes (700)of Bergers at the 2950 to 3000fps range from right at sea Level in High heat ( Quantico VA) to 1500ft in the Dakota's. Not Squirly at all. All in a straight 1:8 twist. Cut rifle Satern. Used R22 most of the time.

I had such a bad expiriance with my Lilja 7 twist .243AI barrel, Im very hesitant to get another one. Not saying it wont work though. Also, I think the Berger VLD bullets may need a little more twist than say a MatchKing or Scenar style bullet. Another quess on my part.

All in All 44Mag, I think your new barrel should work well. I heard alot of good about the barrel brand your going with.

Yeah Black Hawk, I have heard good things aswell about Hart barrels. I do think I am set on the 7 twist, I may be taking a gamble with it according to some but I have a sneaky suspition that it will be a wise choice for the bullet choice I made, though, I am looking forward to trying some other makes other than Bergers. I'll find a dinger for sure, trial and error. Hope it dont take to much error.

Definately try the 115Dtac. Its so much easier to get it to shoot extremely well. personally Ive just never been able to the VLD Bergers to shoot consistantly.

I was thinking about them for sure, you dont have any data for the 115 DTAC in 243 win do ya?

Try a starting charge of 41.0gr of the re-22 and work up from there. The max load in the Sierre book for a 107MK is around 42.5gr. In my AI chamber I can burn 46.5gr.

Another load I have heard other people using with the 115 Dtac is 47.5gr Re-25. thats a max load for straight .243. I never got really good accuracy with the Re-25.
