Hey all you Nightforce guys,
What does the knob on the bottom left side of benchrest models do?

It's not a "knob". It's the housing for a coil spring which helps keep the erector assembly in place.

OH ! thanks, I've only seen pics of them but when my money from 2 other scopes come back, I'm either getting the Benchrest 8x32 with the NP-R2 or the NXS 5.5x22x50 with the NP-R1 !!

Randy,

Remember the Benchrest model has .125 min clicks while the NXS has .250 I own both, but for precision target work the Benchrest model is easier to dial in on the ten ring. With the NXS I find I need to use a combination of clicks and hold off to get the job done.
I really like the elevation and windage knobs on the NXS. No caps to remove and lose. The side focus for me is somewhat of a liability on the NXS since I'm left handed.
I still feel the BR model is clearer (one less mirror than a side focus.
Consider all your options but you'll be happy with either one.

I have a 12x42 and the parallax graduations are way off I suggest that you check it out before you buy

Yes, they are off on my BR model too, but does it really matter? Just look through the scope at your designated target, and adjust the AO to get rid of the parallax. Done. Put crosshairs or dot on "point of aim", and squeeze one off.

Thanks for the replies, I'm so excited about getting either one that I can't keep my mind on my work! I'm a frickin mess!
Although any other info would be appreciated because from folks like you, I get the good and the bad if any!

One more question! I'm wondering what the 8x32 looks like without the turret caps?
