Can anyone recommend the correct cleaning patch size for use with Dewey, Parker Hale style jags:
22 (223)?
6mm cal?

Toot, I prefer round vs. square patches, and I wrap them on a P-H style jag, like you'd wrap a tortilla around a hotdog. For 6mm, I use a 2" diameter patch, and for .223, I use a 1.25" diameter.

You want the patch snug, but not tight. Tight means the solvent gets squeezed out (into the chamber or bore guide) as the patch enters the rifling.

Cheers from the left coast, home of the wicked witches of the west: Feinstein, Boxer, and Pelosi. These castrating shrews represent me? What a sick joke.

I use the same jag for both calibers but different sized square patches. 1 1/8" for the 22's and 1 3/4" for 6's. Actually, I use the 1 3/4" patches up to .375 caliber and just use the appropriate jag.

Nate and Alf, thanks for the insight. I think I'll try both methods. I just needed to get some guidance before placing an order (many other items included) with Sinclair to ready a new switch barrel BAT just received this week from Mike Bryant. I'm waiting for delivery of some Lucas guides early next week as well.

Nate, I understand you CA dilemma. Ten years ago my wife and I moved, lock stock and barrel, out of MA (Kennedy country) to central NH for a number of reasons, one of them being to relocate to a place where my vote had a chance to make a difference. Well, since the move there has been a constant migration of Massholes to the most densely populated southern tier of our fine state; we now are represented by a liberal state government and a "truly mindless" Washington senator.

I sincerely believe in a two party system, but God help our beloved country from destruction during this liberal administration!

If you get the wrong size patches you can offset them on a speer style jag and they will work just fine.
I buy my jags and patches from the same supplier hoping they will match up better. If the fit isn't to your liking you can spin the jag in some sandpaper to reduce its diameter until you get the fit your after.
