I remember the time on BRC when a shooter came on and absolutely blasted two barrel makers over their poor service, bad products, etc. Several persons, myself among them, offered some help and suggested areas to look at...but nope, his mind was made up. The barrels were junk and the companies business practices were just short of criminal.
Well, it turned out that the cause of the problem was that the reamer being used had a miscut freebore diameter...the freebore diameter was actually .001-.002 less than the bullet diameter. Once that was corrected, the barrels shot like they should have.
Many, many people read his horror story about the two barrel makers. I wonder how many ever found out the true story? The slander is always on page #1....the retraction is buried back in the gardening section.
That's it from me on this topic. Like pushing a rope, you can spend a lot of time and work on something without any results. It's just the nature of the rope....
