I have a Savage 6mmbr that had a head seperation at the Nationals last weekend on my last round first relay. I and most everyone there tried to get it out.
I put kroll in chamber when I got home yesterday and let it sit overnight, Tried to use the cleaning rod with a brush on the end to pull it out. No good so far and even tried putting in freezer with no luck.
Do you know where I can get a 6mmbr broken shell extractor for the Savage? I have been looking on the internet and only see for 223 - 308 - 7.62x39

Thanks.
Pisses me off because I only dropped one point the first relay and then had to switch rifles and it was down hill from there

I have used a tap. Use care.

I have used a 45 pistol brush - just "pulling" it into the stuck case and then smacking the rod with a piece of wood. Run an empty rod down from the muzzle end, and screw on the brush. Use a rod you do not like, preferably a coated one. Brush will be scrap when you are done. You might want to try that alone, or with simultaneously heating the barrel.

Brownells lists a .243 (6MM) shell extractor. I need to get one for myself. #769-100-243. Got them in .06 and 7.62 that I keep in my range bag. Wouldn't go to the range without them. Been used "more than once" Sure saves the day.

Case head seperation remedy....

I too had two case head seperations at the F-Class Nationals last week. Had to shoot my spare gun.

One can take a tap that is slightly larger than the ID of the case stuck in the chamber. Engage the tap about 4-5 threads and then remove the tap and the case should come with it.

If you want to make a permanent case remover one can weld the tap to a piece of round stock or make an adapter with a set screw.

Just tried to order a few from Brownells. Got a reply and they're "not available". Looks like we need to look somewhere else.

Thanks to all I finally got it out by using the tap. Thanks Nat it worked very well. First time I ever had that happen. I thought it was just at the end by the rim, but once I got it out I see it ripped about 1/4 of the way up from the Rim. Now to order the extractor spring and ball since I lost that in the grass at Butner.
