October 1, 2005: Fort Pierre, South Dakota

It was a beautiful day on the prairie making it a perfect opportunity for club records to fall and points to be accumulated. That's about all we're going to report about the conditions since some feel our previous reports were nothing more than 'mumblings'.

This was the final points grab for the club points championship. Shooters took advantage of the championship points to improve their scores. Both light and heavy gun class rankings saw a lot of change by the end of the day.

Richard Schatz is our 2005 Light Gun and 2-Gun points champion. Going into the day, Richard was in the lead by 5 points over Jeff Rheborg in the light gun class. Jeff gained 7 points during the day and Richard earned 2.5 giving him the title by .5 points. Richard's lead in the 2-Gun category was 13 points over Glen Sterling. Glen made a run but came up short by 5 points. Throughout the course of the year, Richard averaged 5.150" and scored 859 points. He also held several club records for both light and heavy gun. He still retains the club record for Heavy Gun Group 1.783" (46), Score 52 (2.181") and Score aggregate 193 (4.454").

Glen Sterling is our 2005 Heavy Gun, V.H.A. Stock and 3-Gun champion. After the August shoot, Richard Schatz was the leader by 1 point over John Griswold. Glen was 5.5 points behind Richard. Glen found his groove and earned 10 Heavy Gun points which jumped him to the top of the standings. He had a firm lead in the V.H.A. Stock class and the 3-Gun category all year long and never let go. Glen averaged 5.687" and scored 856 points in Heavy Gun. He averaged 7.295" and scored 790 points in the Stock class. He currently holds the club records for 2-Gun Score Agg. 369 (5.404"), V.H.A. Stock Group Agg. 5.840" (172), 3-Gun Group and Score Agg. 5.549" (541).
