Anybody have any experience with the 22-243 ackley. I am thinking it would be a nice trio in 308 260 22-243 ackley switch barrel rem 700 tactical rifle. Don't know anything about the round and looking for some imput and possible pit falls of the round. Haven't settled on the round just need a stout 22 round on the 08 case.

My .22-35 Rem wildcat is a " stout " .224" cal case.
It works w/ .308 botl face.
.22-35 500yd load = 41.2gr WW760 or 41.6 VV160 & 55 "V"-max.
This load,shot from a Hart SS 24" 5-groove 1-14".
Re-barrelled to 28" K & P SS 5-groove 1-8",
1,000yd load was: 75"A"-Max,40.5 AA3100; and FED LR Magnum Match
I have since graduated to use of a new 6mm wlldcat, of my own design. I have a 22-35 take-off barrel ( for fire-froming ), 22-35 case forming die set, re-size and bullet seat die set, load data; and lots of formed cases for sale; + load data.
Best of luck in your endeavors.

Renaissanceman, I have owned 2 varmint rifles with a cartridge similar to the one you're speaking of. Mine was called the 220 Jaybird, basically a 22-243 AI. I had to push the shoulder back .035" then turn the necks, and fireform the case. A royal PITA. It was extremely fast with Berger 52 grain match bullets and very accurate but the accuracy was gone after 500 rounds due to throat erosion. If you like to buy new barrels, this is the cartridge if you want high velocity. I have since gone to the 22BR with no-turn necks and Lapua brass. Now I'm happy.

The 22 br is sweet. I was just looking to go with a smokin fast 22 round with a 308 bolt face to make it a switch barrel on the 308 case.

The 22-243AI is an awesome varmint cartridge. I ran 55gr V-max bullets abesolutely sensational. The only down fall with this cartridge is barrel life. Expect only 750 rounds before accuracy starts deteriorating fast. Thats providing you clean properly and more frequently than usual.

I'm running 90vld's 3500 out of mine. Shoots under 1/2 moa and really cheats the wind. I'm sure it's hard on barrels, but for a switch barrel rig at least you'd have other options.

I´m about to start a 22-243AI build on a Remmy 22-250 barrel with 50 rounds down the tube. I know the tube wont last long but just building for fun.
Can somebody help me with load data for the AI case? Will most likely shoot Sierra 69´s and V-max on varmints.
