having trouble deciding which brand of barrel i want on my new project. seems to be that krieger and bartlein are winning a majority of the matches this year. i do know that it will be 28-29 inches with a .236 bore 1-8 twist (6BR). Kreiger, brux, obermeyer, and schneider are the 4 that i've narrowed it down to on this project. have had good luck with hart and douglas. just want to try something different. any suggestions.

All are good barrels, I would pick that one I could get the fastest. I shoot mostly Kreiger, Brux is one that is coming to the front fast.

If you are in the mood for something other than what has already been named, get a Broughton. I have two of them in 6mm; my shooting partner has one in 6.5mm. All three of them will shoot with any of the other premium barrels I've owned. This includes Krieger, Shilen, Hart, and Bartlien. As Mark said, whom ever can supply you the barrel you want the fastest, would be the company to get my business, they are all that good.
I hope this helps,

Wanted to try a Bartlein (would have been my first), for an upcoming 6ppc re-barrel job, could not find one, anywhere & no one would quote a delivery date. Sinclair has heavy varmint contour Kriegers in stock, and 3 days after the phone order it arrived. Scheduled to be in the shop for re-barrel within a few days. Have Kriegers, Shilens & Harts: all excellent barrels. One of my outstanding barrels is a Tikka in 308, so hammer forged can also be a top choice. Consistant sub moa w/ 5 shot groups & cleans like a hand lapped. As mentioned above: so many choices.

Here is a link to a posting on another site, regarding Bartlein barrels:
I've heard good things about the "B" brand barrels - Bartlein, Broughton, and Brux. I decided to try Bartlein for my first custom (it is currently in transit). I found mine in a posting in the Benchrest.com classifieds. I, too, think Mr. Schronce hit the nail on the head - most of the premium makers are good enough that you can pretty much trust whomever can fill your order the fastest.
