for a varmint gun i'd take one like this over that ugly one you want.

http://www.savagearms.com/25model_LightweightVarminter.htm

i luv my savage 10fp in .308, but the one you like looks way uglier than a plain one. jst my 2 cents.

get what you want and be happy. i've shot some varmints with mine before and got relativley no expanssion with game bullets. the 110 vmaxs might be your best bet.

.204 in a model 25 will rock and varmint it comes in contact with.

The 308 is a bit much for PD but if Rock Chuck hunting is your game 308 will work fine. I have used everything from a 22lr to 50bmg to shoot PD and smaller is better.

Here are the guns I take almost every time I go.
22hornet
223 AR and bolt
22-250
6mmbr R5

I really like how the AR fits that is why I bought a R5 kit and I am very happy with it. My only complaint on it is the powder coat. I am not a powder coat guy. I would like the same finish as a AR-15 but that is just me. With that being said once I start shooting that 6mmBR I find it hard to go back to the AR only because it does not hit as hard.
