I thought I posted this last night, but I don't see anything for it today. Must have done something wrong.

I have a 6BR no turn neck. My Forster die has been reamed for no turn necks. I use the expander ball.

I've been using a Wilson micrometer seater. I've been measuring OAL to tip on 105 Amax's and 107 smk's and have been getting measurements all over the place +/- .030". Yesterday I received my sinclair bullet comparator (looks like a nut with different caliber holes drilled in it. Anyway with that the spread on the OAL is MUCH tighter but still some are in or out .001" from what I was wanting.

I am using the die by hand. In unsized new Lapua brass I'd say the wilson seater is almost impossible to use by hand. A FL size makes all the difference. All case necks are chamfered 45 deg.

My questions are: Is this the limit of the precision from this seater AND the measuring devices? Would some seating lube correct the problem? If so what lube. Is an arbor press the answer to my problems?

Don't know what other problems you may have but an arbor press, even an el-cheapo, will cure your hurting palms and ensure each bullet is fully seated.

Depends on the bullet. With those that have a very consistant shape such as Berger, BIB, JLK, and most all of the customs the Wilson seater will do +/- 0.0005". The Sierra and Hornady, not so much. The Sinclair or Hornady tool with a repeatable caliper should be within the resolution of the tool - again 0.0005".

Thanks Gunamonth,

I was figuring I needed an arbor press. Yes the palms can get a little fatigued.

Measuring to the bullet tip just wasn't working. The comparator made everything look better. I'll have to try some bergers.
