First off, let me introduce myself to the crowd as Fuzzytx. I have been reading this forum and the accompanying website for three or so years. i just recently joined the forum officially.
I am a welder and fabricator by profession who owns his own shop.
Being like other people that quite often build mundane things, our minds have time to wonder aimlessly. that brings me to this subject.
I have always looked at other businesses products and wondered how i could build it myself, partly for the perceived savings (read... always would be cheaper to just buy the damn thing) or the challenge.
Having build a few swivel benches in the past, not unlike the ones advertised, they all seem to have the same problem. The seat coming off the stem or center post pry's against it exerting pressure unevenly to one or two legs. You therefore must strengthen the leg stock to keep flex to a minimum.
What if the seat was located above or slightly off-center and the table extended from the bottom of the seat? That in turn will center the mass of weight above the legs and provide for a more stable table in my thought process.
This idea may come to the market at some point so I am looking for other thoughts or things y'all might want in a table that's not offered now through the retail market.
Look forward to any suggestions or comments offered.
Thanks for your time,
Jeffery
